Out Reach Activity by Community Development initiate under Research and Consultancy section under the Scheme of Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA)

As per the letter received from Sub Education Officer, Pauri (Garhwal), the Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) are directed to organize orientation sessions for the students and teachers of Higher Secondary Schools under the राष्ट्रीय आविष्कार अभियान (RAA). The four schools have been selected by the state government in Khirsu and Kot blocks of Pauri district which are to be mentored by NIT Uttarakhand. In this regard, the Community Development section under Research and Consultancy has formed a team of faculty members from all the departments of the institute. The team visited the schools and conducted the orientation sessions for the students and teachers. The specialized faculty members from our institute have motivated the students toward the application of science and mathematics for future prospects. The faculty members explained in brief about the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) initiative of MHRD, Govt. of India. Then, they explained to the students about the scientific phenomenon occurring in daily life, such as electric bulb, flow of current, electric circuits, the difference between conductors & insulators, the formation of color in soap bubbles, color of sky etc. The importance of science, mathematics and technology for the betterment of the human being, society and overall environment was emphasized in the Orientation Program. The Orientation Program was conducted in the 3rd week of May 2022.

Out Reach Activity organized by Community Development initiate under Research and Consultancy section under Swachhata Pakhwada

With reference to the office order NITUK/MoE-Activities/A-514, Research and Consultancy section has successfully organized an awareness session on Swachhata Pakhwada in the Kendriya Vidyalaya SSB Srinagar Pauri Garhwal. In this regard, a team of faculty members interacted with students and teachers. The interaction was introduced by Dean Research and Consultancy, Dr. Hariharan Muthusamy. He explained the importance of Swachhta Pakhwada and its impact on our daily life. He discussed briefly on the importance of personal hygiene and community cleanliness. Dr. Pawan Kumar Rakesh, Associate Dean Research Consultancy and Dr. Niraj Kumar Mishra, Coordinator Community Development initiative delivered expert lectures on Swachhta Pakhwada and the role of science and technology in the betterment of society.


The specialized faculty members have motivated the students toward the application of science and engineering for future prospects. The faculty members also explained various innovative projects and ideas in brief. Then, they explained to the students about personal hygiene as well as the cleanliness of society. The importance of science and technology for the betterment of human beings, society, and overall environmental impact was emphasized in the awareness program. The awareness program was conducted on the 3rd of September 2022. It has found that the session was very informative and fruitful.

Out Reach Activity organized by Community Development initiate under Research and Consultancy section under Swachhata Pakhwada

With reference to the office order NITUK/MoE-Activities/A-514, Research and Consultancy section has successfully organized an awareness campaign on Swachhata Pakhwada in the local communities of Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal. The awareness campaign was started from the Institute itself. In this regard, a team of faculty members along with our students interacted with local people. The importance of Swachhata was discussed by teachers and students in communities to re affirm their faith in sanitation towards the workplace, community, city and country. They discussed briefly on the importance of personal hygiene and community cleanliness. Dr. Pawan Kumar Rakesh, Associate Dean Research Consultancy and Dr. Niraj Kumar Mishra, Coordinator Community Development motivated to people on Swachhta Pakhwada and the role of science and technology in the betterment of society. Our students also came forward and presented their views with great zeal and passion. They shared simple things which everyone could indulge to make clean and green environment in the community.


The students revealed their active participation of counseling the people about the proper disposal of solid waste. Public greeted and appreciated the innovative approach undertaken by the students and faculties of NIT Uttarakhand. The students were successful in guiding persons how to dispose the domestic, industrial and agricultural waste, the use of blue and green dustbins, the prevention of alarming diseases like dengue, malaria and impact of personal health. The importance of science and technology for the betterment of human beings, society, and overall betterment of environment was highlighted in the awareness campaign. The awareness campaign was conducted on the 4th of September 2022. It has found that the session was very useful and fruitful.

Swachhta Heckathon has been organized by NIT Uttarakhand to celebrate “Swachhta Pakhwada under the theme Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of it's people, culture and achievements. The objective of the program was to demonstrate the importance of personal hygiene and community cleanliness in our society and also the quality of life and the role of science and technology for the betterment of society with innovative ideas. The total 16 groups were participated in this Swachhata Heckathon from various schools. The students came forward and presented their innovative ideas with great zeal and passion during the event. They demonstrated various ideas which everyone could indulge to make clean and green environment in the community.

Expert Talk on “Potential of Millets and comparison with other available foods"

NIT Uttarakhand is celebrating International Years of Millets 2023. In this regard, the expert talk on “Potential of Millets and comparison with other available foods” was organized by Community Development Initiative Cell, Research & Consultancy Section, NIT Uttarakhand on 19/10/2022 from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM through online mode (Google Meet).


The aim of the expert talk was to make awareness about the millets and its benefits among the students, faculty, and staff members for maintaining good health. The expert lecture was delivered by Dr. B Dayakar Rao, Principal Scientist, Indian Institute of Millet Research Hyderabad. He had given a wonderful talk and motivated faculty, staff, and students toward the use of millet-based food. He emphasized the importance of the nutrients of millet and its applications in the food industry.

National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand organised two days orientation program through Vidyanjali Volunteer Services in Kendriya Vidyalaya SSB Srinagar

The community development cell under Research and Consultancy, National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand has organized two days orientation program from 8th to 9th December 2022 at KV SSB Srinagar. Vidyanjali is an online portal launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji in September 2021, with the aim of strengthening the infrastructure, facilities and improving the quality of education in government and government aided schools. To fulfil the objective of the Vidyanjali program, a team of faculty members along with Dr. Hariharan Muthusamy, Dean Research and Consultancy, were visited to mentor the school students under Vidyanjali Volunteer Services. The total five sessions were conducted by faculty members. The innovation and importance of intellectual property right was discussed by Dr. Niraj Kumar Mishra, coordinator of this event. Dr. Pawan Kumar Rakesh discussed how to become entrepreneur. Dr. D B Singh and Dr I M Nagpure covered Mathematics and Physics respectively for various competitive examination. Dr. Ram Pal Pandey discussed about the preparation of chemistry for various entrance examinations.

SEP2022 Activity 1 : Visit to the government school of the village Farashu under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, where a presentation regarding “Water Harvesting Methods and its Importance '' has been delivered followed by some quiz completions and prize distribution. A One-day Interaction session on Water harvesting methods and its importance in the life of residents of the village followed by quiz competition and prize distribution was organised by through offline mode. The aim of this Interaction program is to enhance the knowledge of the students about the current trends on which we can improve the village life of the residents in daily working style. In this regard Power Point Presentation was made available amongst the students for better understanding of the subject matter. After this session, we opened the session for the interaction between the students and some residents in the village who are called by the principal of the school. After that a quiz completion was organized for the students followed by prize distributions.


SEP2022 Activity 2 : Visit to the government school of the village Janshu under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, where information regarding some of the basic science experiments, hygiene and importance of library along with books has been presented among the students. Visit to Government Primary School of village Janshu was made, where basic working principal and uses of some science experimental devices like binocular, magnets, and laser light etc has been delivered to the students. The working principal of these apparatus were explained with the help of these instruments. They were also motivated to maintain and practise good personal hygiene habits. It was discussed how good personal hygiene will boost our confidence in dealing with some problems like body odour and bad breath. They were explained the different basic methods in maintaining a good personal hygiene. After that, some basic ideas about library i.e., its necessities, uses, maintenance skill were discussed amongst the students as well as teachers.


SEP2022 Activity 3 : Visit to the Government Inter College Dikholu (Dungri Panth) under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, where some ideas about basic computer applications and use of computer and technology in day to day activities have been presented amongst students. A One-day Interaction session on Basic computer applications and use of computer and technology in day to day activities was organised through offline mode on 8th September 2022. The aim of this Interaction program was to enhance the knowledge of the students about the current trends on computer technology and use of the computer application and internet in day to day activities. In the session, ideas about basic functionality of computer and its application followed by security and internet features and the functionality of hardware and software were presented amongst the students. Talks were also made to make them understand the importance of online system and actual use of computer science for education system. Moreover, career counselling in the field of computer science & engineering was also done.


SEP2022 Activity 4 : Visit to the village Kaliyasaud under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan to interact with the villagers to provide some knowledge about the importance and methods of rain water harvesting. The aim of the visit was to create awareness among the villagers regarding rain water harvesting and the benefits of using such techniques. The related material for general awareness was also distributed among villagers through whatsapp group of village. Due to Dengue spread in the village, interaction was made with few people of the village. During the interaction with villagers it was found that there is shortage of water from natural sources as the sources are far away from habitation. Hence they were informed to improve the water level by adopting rain water harvesting techniques such as by making tean sheds on their roof tops and collect water from there into closed pits with uncemented base. So that water level may rise in long term and the collected water may be utilized for day to day activities.
